Acting Classes Through Oster Regent Theatre

Cedar Falls - Acting Classes for Adults! is being presented starting September 6, 2014. The classes are being taught by professional actor and Theatre UNI professor Richard Glockner at the Oster Regent Theatre 3rd floor Deery Room and at other spaces on Saturdays from September 6 through October 25, 2014. Students may miss a class or two, but the full cost of $100 for the entire 8 week session is due. Classes run 9:30am - 12:30pm and are intended for ages 18 and over. The class will help sharpen acting skills; any level of experience is welcomed. This class will work scene study and monologues with additional acting exercises.

Actor Needed for Oklahoma!

Cedar Falls - "Wanted: A man who can look between the ages of 18 and 40 to play a cowboy named Joe in our production of OKLAHOMA!

Needs to be able to carry a tune and move well to a beat. Formal dance training is not necessary but the role involves simple group movement. This is an ensemble part with a few lines and six ensemble songs/dances plus group scenes.

Auditions for Deathtrap

Cedar Falls - CFCT is producing Deathtrap by Ira Levin in October, and are looking for five adult actors. William G. Dawson directs.

Auditions take place August 12 and 13 at 7:00 at Oster Regent Theatre.

Roles

"Sidney Bruhl, 50's, give or take a few years. A famous playwright who is now in a slump. He's charming, witty, and a bit full of himself.

Myra, his rich wife and similar age, she's frail with a heart condition.

Clifford Anderson, young playwright, has written what could be the next big hit.

Porter Milgrim, Sidney's attorney and protective friend.

Helga Ten Dorp, a Psychic with a Dutch accent who's helped police solve crimes. She's staying next door."

Chapter Two in Cedar Falls

Cedar Falls - Cedar Falls Community Theatre opens its production of Neil Simon's Chapter Two, directed by Joe Frenna, this weekend at Oster Regent Theatre.

"Recent widower, writer George Schneider, is encouraged by his younger brother Leo to start dating again. Which sends George into even more depression after a series of bad matches. Then Leo comes up with Jennie Malone and she's a keeper. Still, it's a bumpy trip on the road to Dreamland for these not-so-young lovers. George and Jennie stumble on, overcoming both their hesitation on the rebound and emotional neediness. In a hilarious, farcical subplot, Leo has a fling with Faye, Jennie's neurotic married friend."

Chapter Two runs August 10-11 and 18-19 at 7:30 (2:00 August 19) at the Oster Regent Theatre in Cedar Falls. Tickets are $20 ($10 students).

Auditions for Oliver!

Oster Regent Theatre - Open auditions for a June production of Oliver! will take April 16 and 17 at 7pm at the Oster Regent Theatre, 103 Main St. in Cedar Falls.

Auditions will consist of prepared songs and cold reading. Anyone 7 years old and up is encouraged to attend. Rehearsals will begin April 23 for a June 8 opening.

Oliver Twist, a workhouse boy 11-13 years of age, "A" below middle "C" to High "A"

Mr. Bumble, the beadle, a large pompous man of 55, "D" below middle "C" to "A" above middle "C"

Widow Corney, a workhouse mistress, sharp-tongued and domineering, "D" above middle "C" to High "A"

Noah Claypole, the undertaker's teenaged apprentice (a non-singing role.)

Mr. Sowerberry, the undertaker

Charlotte, their bratty young daughter (a non-singing role.)

The Artful Dodger, Fagin's brightest pupil, 14-17 years old, low "A" to "F" above middle "C"

Nancy, a graduate of Fagin's academy, and Bill's companion, low "F" to "F" above middle "C"

Charles Bates, and other boys and girls, approximately 20 needed, will double as workhouse orphans and may be part of Fagin's establishment

Bet, a 13-year-old lass in Fagin's establishment, who idolizes Nancy, low "A" to "E" above middle "C"

Old Sally, a pauper and old lady

Bill Sykes, a villain in his prime, low "C" to "E" above middle "C"

Mrs. Bedwin, the Brownlows' housekeeper (a non-singing role.)

Mr. Brownlow, an older gentleman of wealth and breeding (a non-singing role.)

Dr. Grimwig, a doctor (a non-singing role.)

Other characters include Night Watchman, Bow Street Runners, Workhouse Assistants, Vendors, Criers, and London Street Crowd. Oliver and The Artful Dodger may be cast as a boy or girl as they are demanding roles. The show is being directed by Greg Holt. Leonard Upham is the musical director and Abi Miller is the choreographer."
