That Day in September

Dreamwell - That Day in September opened last weekend. The actors did a wonderful job. I decided to start this blog too late to get a reviewer to take a look at my own show, so this will just be a list of five great moments in the show from my perspective.

1) When the Blue Collar Guy (Brian Tanner) talks about discovering he was gay and wanted to be a drama major. Brian really fell into the blue collar role and yet you absolutely believed that this blue collar guy, the complete opposite of the stereotype, was also gay and liked acting.

2) The humor of the gay guy who didn't have a clue was perfectly presented by the Musician (Jeff Mead). As one of the few comedic moments in the show, it needed to work and it did.

3)The moment in the play when the Cop (played by Elisa Elizalde) talks about the evil of that day and the goodness of the day always gets to me. She has such a simple, honest delivery of those words.

4) The moment in the play when everyone else at the World Trade Center freezes and the Office Drone (Chuck Dufano) is left dancing alone. He looks around and shrugs as if this is the sort thing that always happens to me. Made me smile everytime.

5) I love the rose scene at the ruins of the World Trade Center. Both the VP (Kris Denniger) and the Mom (Ellen Stevenson) tap into the emotions of the scene. Kris' recounting of being on that street where she saw the tragedy builds to a wonderful moment of pain and loss. And then Ellen talks about how being there was a gift with just the right amount of survivor's pain.

Two more performance this weekend. Check it out!
