Coralville - This year's All-in-a-Day Play Festival, an annual production from City Circle and Dreamwell, will take place at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. Interested actors are asked to sign up starting on August 19. The initial meeting will take place the night of August 31, and the show will go up the night of September 1.
From Dreamwell:
"On the night of Friday, August 31st, seven writers, seven directors, and 35 actors will come together to create seven original plays. Writers are randomly assigned a location, a genre and one other dramatic detail they are charged with including in their scripts. Writers, actors, and directors brainstorm ideas and then the writers scurry away to create a ten minute play by 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. At that time, the actors and directors take over.
Twenty four hours from the start of the festival - after a whirlwind of creative mayhem - theatre lovers are treated to a variety of unique shows at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. Plays and performances are adjudicated and awards will be presented for performances, plays, and directors.
If you are interested in acting in this event, sign up through the Dreamwell website. Sign up will open at 3:00 p.m., August 19. No early requests, please! The first 35 actors who sign up will be in the show. Slots filled very quickly last year, so sign up early! Once slots are filled, additional requests will be placed on a waiting list.
The time commitment for actors is roughly two hours, Friday evening, August 31, and the entire day and evening of Saturday September 1. If you just want to attend the performance, tickets are only $8!"
