Working Group Theatre turns Focus to Aging and Memory Loss in our Community

Iowa City - Working Group Theatre will present Was the Word: Forgiveness on October 21st at 7pm @ The Englert Theatre. Was the Word is Working Group Theatre's monthly spoken word and storytelling event at The Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City. Each event brings together community members and local performers to share their words and experiences on stage to benefit local non-profits or community service groups. Tickets are PAY WHAT YOU CAN at the door.

This evening they will be joined by an exciting group of storytellers and poets including Maggie Conroy, Tim Budd, Kate Krohn, and Micah Ariel James. Performers will present work centered around the theme of Forgiveness. Interwoven among their words, The Feralings will entertain the audience with their musical stylings.

The non-profit beneficiary for the night is Iowa City Hospice. Proceeds from the evening will be donated to this amazing organization, and a segment in the show will feature the work they are doing in our community. Was the Word will return again November 18th to benefit Elder Services.

Was the Word is part of Working Group Theatre’s creation of THE BROKEN CHORD, a full-length play presented by Hancher April 12-14, 2013 examining the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease on caregivers and communities. During the course of the year, Working Group will be volunteering, interviewing, collecting stories, and creating this important new work.
