SYNOPSIS:
A portrait of a small town. The prologue, set in the 1830's, depicts settlers making claims to land surrounding a hilltop with good soil. The main storyline, in present time, consists of an ensemble of characters experiencing similar moments of choice and circumstance: a weary drifter living on the outskirts of town, a teenage girl at a party on the last night of high school, a grocery store cashier with no other options after high school, and a farmer and his wife dealing with financial hardship as a result of a drought. Thematically, the film deals with home and community.

ROLES:
SETTLER / Male / 30-50 yrs. / Caucasian: Worn traveller used to exploring an unknown landscape and happening across violence.
FARMER / Male / 40-55 yrs. / Caucasian: A gentle, forgiving personality but weathered from years of manual labor. He is reserved, his relationship with his wife strained.
FARMER'S WIFE / Female / 40-55 yrs. / Caucasian: A proud woman who is dependent on the land and her husband, but wishes she was more self-sufficient.
ZACH / Male / 16-20 yrs. / Caucasian: A quiet high school student who doesn't belong to any group in particular.
BULMER / Male / 16-20 yrs. / Caucasian: An aggressive high school football player with belligerent charisma.
STUMPY / Male / 16-20 yrs. / Caucasian: An innocent high school student. A follower, small in personality and stature.
JARED / Male / 16-20 yrs. / Caucasian: A strong, heavyset high school student.
EVE / Female / 16-20 yrs. / Caucasian: A rebellious teenager stifled by her conservative parents and desperate to be a part of a raucous social scene.
JEREMIAH / Male / 5-8 yrs. / A naïve kid with a strong relationship to his mother.
