Coralville - "City Circle Acting Company of Coralville is proud to announce its 2013-2014 season of performances at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.
Shrek: The Musical opens City Circle’s 16th season on June 14-17. Based on the Oscar-winning 2001 Dreamworks film, the Broadway production garnered 8 Tony nominations including Best Musical. Shrek is City Circle’s annual teen musical and will be performed by a cast of area high school students. Shrek The Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for the whole family!
RENT! the highly acclaimed Tony and Pulitzer Prize Award winner will be performed August 1-3. Former cast members of City Circle’s 2009 sold-out production will reunite to bring down the house in a staged concert version as a special fundraiser for City Circle.
Monty Python’s Spamalot anchors the fall season from October 25 through November 2. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Spamalot is a musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the classic film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table while spoofing a number of Broadway's most beloved musicals, it raises silliness to an art form.
Charles Dickens’ masterpiece, A Christmas Carol returns to the Performing Arts Center for the holiday season from December 13 - 22. This timeless classic will delight and brighten the holiday season with beautiful carols and a message of hope, peace, and love. This will be a wonderful event for the entire family.
Jesus Christ Superstar, the ground breaking rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will be performed April 4-13, 2014. Propelled by a stirring score, this musical is based loosely on the Gospel’s account of the last week of Jesus’ life, as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
A play scheduled for February 14-16 will be announced later.
2013-2014 season ticket information will be available soon. Public ticket sales for Shrek begin April 17. Complete play descriptions and run dates here."
