Shrek The Musical Opens June 14

Coralville - "Shrek The Musical opens City Circle’s 16th season on June 14-17 at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.

Based on the Oscar-winning 2001 DreamWorks film that started it all, this hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre comes to life on stage. City Circle Acting Company's youth production directed by Chris Okiishi features a talented cast of 62 area youth from grades 6-12.

Shrek The Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for the whole family!

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre -- not a handsome prince -- shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a villain with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.

Shrek runs June 14 and 15 at 7:30pm and June 15 and 16 at 2pm at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.

Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 319.248.9370 or in person at the CCPA box office at 1301 5th Street and at the Coralville Recreation Center at 1506 8th Street."
