The Last Five Years Opens February 15

Tipton - The Cedar County Stoplight Players are producing the Jason Robert Brown musical The Last Five Years as a fundraising event to help the Hardacre Theater Preservation Association (HTPA) in its campaign to preserve Tipton’s historic Hardacre Theater. The performance dates are February 15, 16, 22 & 23, 2014. Curtain is at 7:30 on Saturday evenings and 2:30 on Sunday afternoons. The production will be held in the newly renovated Tipton High School Auditorium at 400 East 6th Street in Tipton. Tickets are $10 and the proceeds will go to HTPA to help them reach their goals.

Jason Robert Brown’s contemporary musical The Last Five Years tells the emotionally powerful story of two twentysomething New Yorkers who dive head-first into a marriage fueled by the optimism that comes with finding “the one.” But in a city where professional and personal passions collide and only the strongest relationships survive, navigating the waters of love and matrimony can sometimes prove too much. Funny, honest and intimate, with an exuberantly romantic score, The Last Five Years takes a bold look at one young couple's hope that love endures the test of time.

This two person musical will be performed by Cedar County native and professional actress Tracy PelzerTimm and Iowa native Adam Nardini. Both believe in the preservation of the historic building, but Ms. PelzerTimm’s reason is personal. Her first job, as a teenager, was at the Hardacre Theater (then serving as a movie theater) and it was there she met her future husband. CC Stoplight Player veteran Janet Whaley is directing the show with the help of THS’ choir director, Julie Thomas. Both have extensive theatre and musical theatre experience.
