About the play
"Donald Margulies’ script is a fine blend of humor and trauma, with engaging ideas about the impotence of journalism in the world of human suffering." - New City Stage

Written by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, Time Stands Still is a twist on the coming home story. Successful wartime photojournalist Sarah, wounded overseas by a roadside bomb, returns home to her long-time boyfriend James and their small Brooklyn loft. Ready to give up the life of a free-lance war journalist, James urges Sarah to settle down and begin a family.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Richard, Sarah and James' magazine editor and long time friend of the couple, has a new, young girlfriend who juxtaposes Sarah's bitterness with hopefulness.

As Sarah heals, she must decide whether to stay in New York with James, or return to her dangerous but meaningful career.

Margulies says of his play, "War is the backdrop for what is essentially a domestic love story—a relationship drama—in which the characters happen to have high stakes professions. As a dramatist I'm always looking for ways to raise the stakes for my characters; in the case of Time Stands Still, those stakes are particularly high."

Time Stands Still features Carrie Erickson (Sarah), Joseph Keith Tranmer (James), Kevin Scott Burford (Richard) and Kelsey Akers (Mandy). The Brooklyn loft is brought to life with lighting design by Rich Riggleman, and set design by Rich Riggleman and Lucas Gibson.
