Iowa City - Fourth Room Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, at 901 Melrose Avenue, a beautiful, secluded outdoor space near Kinnick Stadium, on August 15-17 (Fri-Sun) & 21-23 (Thu-Sat) at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are FREE. Fourth Room Theatre requests you make a reservation by calling or texting 319-214-3375 or emailing info@fourthroomtheatre.com with your name, preferred date, the number in your group, and number of vehicles in your party.

ABOUT THE PLAY
One of Shakespeare’s most beloved romantic comedies, Much Ado About Nothing is the tale of two precarious courtships. Confirmed bachelor Benedick (Kehry Anson Lane), engages in a “merry war” with the complicated, headstrong Beatrice (Rachel Korach Howell). The ambitious but susceptible Claudio (Nate Jeffrey Sullivan) and the young, gentle Hero (Hannah Spina) are instantly smitten, but is their bond safe from the machinations of the malicious Don John (K. Michael Moore) and his associates?

At once touching, sexy and bitingly funny—reconceived with a Mad Men-era, early 1960s twist—Much Ado features some of the most famous comedic repartee ever written.

Angie Toomsen directs. Additional cast includes Rip Russell (Leonato), Eric Burchett (Don Pedro), Brett Borden (Dogberry), Gavin Conkling (Borachio), Katy Slaven (Margaret), Noel VanDenBosch (Conrade), Jen Brown (Antonia), Genevieve Heinrich (Ursula), James Trainor (Hugh Oatcake), Logan Natvig (George Seacole) and Mattthew James (Balthazar/Verges/Friar Francis). The production team also includes choreography by Fawn Boston-Halter, lighting and additional music by Eric Burchett, costumes by Noel VanDenBosch, dramaturgy by Genevieve Heinrich, production assistance by Jorie Slodki, and stage management/directorial assistance by Rachel Pothoff.

Much Ado About Nothing is the second annual production in Fourth Room Theatre’s FREE CLASSICS initiative and was made possible by the generosity of friends, family and community.
