About the opera: Considered by some to be the best opera ever written, Mozart’s masterpiece is based on legends of Don Juan, a womanizing scoundrel. The opera slinks between comedy and tragedy as the lead character pursues a path which leads to his destruction. Cast members include Christopher Burchett in the title role, Lee Poulis as Leporello, Danielle Talamante as Donna Anna, and Veronica Mitina as Donna Elvira. With Orchestra Iowa musicians conducted by Daniel Kleinknecht and stage direction by William Ferrara, this new Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre production will be sung in Italian with English supertitles.
