Waterloo - The Black Hawk Children’s Theatre has cast 9 local young artists in their upcoming production of Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat. Production dates are April 17 & 24 at 7 pm and April 18 & 25 at 2 pm.
Julia Corbett is cast in the title role of THE CAT. She is a 9th grader at Peet Junior High. She is making her debut here at Black Hawk Children’s Theatre although she has acted previously with the Parabola Youth Theatre Group. Julia enjoys studying language and music.
Erin McRae will take on the role of KITTEN #1. She is in the 6th grade at Cedar Heights. She was most recently seen on-stage in Seussical as one of the Wickersham Brothers. She has also appeared in Twelve Dancing Princesses and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Emma DeGroote is a 5th grader at Lincoln Elementary. She will be playing the part of KITTEN #2. She was most recently seen in last fall’s production of James and the Giant Peach. Emma also takes piano and dance lessons.
Sylvia Brown loves music and has been singing for as long as she can remember. She will be playing SALLY. Sylvia’s favorite subjects in school include English and Spanish.
David Randall will be playing the role of BOY. This will be his 5th time performing at BHCT. David is a 6th grader at Blessed Maria Assunta Middle School. His favorite football team is the Seattle Seahawks and David also enjoys playing dodgeball.
Joelle Wessels, a 4th grader at Orchard Hill will be playing the role of KITTEN #3. She has participated with the UNI Children’s Choir for two years. This will be her debut at BHCT.
Emmy Hewitt will be playing THING 2. Emmy is a student at Hoover Middle School in 7th Grade. She loves to sing show tunes and hang out with her friends. Emmy hopes to perform professionally in the future.
Joel Ochoa will be fooling around on stage with Emmy as THING 1. Joel has been involved with the OPUS Honor Choir for five years. He runs cross country and loves Netflix.
Annie Brown makes back to back appearances on the BHCT stage after performing as a QUEEN’S MINON in Snow White. For Cat in the Hat, she will be playing the role of FISH. Annie is a 6th grader at Southdale Elementary loves singing and making crafts.
