I thought this was an interesting point of view so I'm sharing with all of you in case you'd like to offer an opinion on this.
Link to A Crisis in American Acting.
His point is basically American actors don't train - they just head to New York or California looking to become famous. I do not work in the professional realm of acting so I cannot really speak to this, but I know there are readers of this blog who have worked or are working professionally so I'd be interested to hear what you have to say in the comments.

Theatre on the prowl
Check out this article from Rake, a free Minneapolis based newspaper (man, I miss ICON), which talks about the very real problem theaters are running into with the costs of performance space these days. It's great that we have wonderful theaters like the Englert, but the cost of performing there is prohibitive for a small non-profit theater. The point of the article is some theaters are finding non-traditional theater spaces and making the space another character in the performance. It's definitely worth a read.
