City Circle Shorts Auditions

City Circle - The City City Acting Company of Coralville will be holding auditions for our Fourth Annual City Circle Shorts Festival (formerly New Play Festival) at the Community of Christ Church on December 8th and 9th, from 1-5pm each day. Actors and actresses of all ages and abilities will be considered and are encouraged to audition. No preparation is required.

They are also looking for directors for the shows. Directors need to be available one or both days the weekend of December 8-9. Persons of all experience levels will be considered. Interested individuals should contact Andrew Juhl. Here is a list of the shows:

Murder by Midnight by Jeff Goode
Hotel detective Dick Piston needs to solve a murder before he leaves work— in ten minutes! This is an enjoyable noir-inspired comedy full of double entendres and belly laughs.

Go Fish by Rachel Howell
A grandfather and granddaughter explore life, love, and secrets while playing a game or two of cards in this delightful dramedy.

Nano Romantico by Rebecca Christian
Speed dating, speed daters, and ferret-lovers get a good ribbing in this well-written and very funny one-act.

Four for Prayer by Ellen Harris
In this quick but thoughtful drama written for four women, Heloise and three older versions of Heloise all pray alongside one another, answering each other’s questions about life, love, and the future.

Negotiated Safety by Chris Okiishi
A self-reliant and liberated woman gets pregnant and demands to settle down in this quirky piece for one woman and three men.

Sacrificial Bunt by Kent Forsberg
Family dysfunction, domestic violence, and suppressed sexuality are looked at through the lens of a boy who loves baseball in this moving dramatic monologue.

The Scene of the Accident by Amy White
A young man with a military background reflects on his actions at the scene of car accident in this gripping monologue.

Distinctly Tasteful by Vicki Krajewski
When delicate Flouncy comes to stay with her sister and brutal brother-in-law, her self-deceptive illusions regarding her pyramid scheme turn to madness when confronted by the savage realities of life in the suburbs.

Some Abstract Notionby Montgomery Scott
Love and loyalty are on a collision course in this fiery tale of political rebellion, as the abstract notion of innocence is stretched to the breaking point.
