Becky's New Car Opens May 9

Iowa City - "Have you ever been tempted to flee your own life? Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage—with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-struck millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life… and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn’t dare. Becky’s New Car is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

Dreamwell Theatre is proud to present Becky's New Car, a comedy by Steven Dietz, directed by Brian Tanner. Performances will be on May 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 pm at 10 S. Gilbert St., Iowa City.

Director Brian Tanner comments "This is a very engaging show that breaks the boundaries of conventional theatre, moving seamlessly from one location to the next, at times even interacting directly with the audience. Carole Martin is fantastic as the titular Becky and the center of a terrific ensemble that has been meshing well together since day one. I've been very happy with the work they've been doing and I think people will really enjoy this experience on many levels. It's funny, bittersweet, and will make people wonder about the life not lived and if you had the chance to change it, if it would be better or not.""
