Auditions for WCP's Steel Magnolias

Waterloo - The Waterloo Community Playhouse will hold auditions for its’ production of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias on Saturday, July 12th at 1:00 pm and Sunday, July 13th at 2:00 pm. Auditions will be held at WCP’s Walker Building, 224 Commercial Street in Waterloo.

Set in a small-town beauty shop in Louisiana on the wedding day of the much loved Shelby, a young and pretty diabetic, the play creates a sense of community between six women who meet regularly to share their joys and sorrows as well as to gossip good-naturedly about men, marriage and the latest hair styles. We see a tenderness emanating from the spirit of these indomitable women.

We will be casting for the following roles:

TRUVY JONES (40-60) is the owner of Truvy’s Beauty Shop whose motto is “There’s no such thing as natural beauty.”
ANNELLEE DUPUY-DESOTO is a novice beauty shop assistant and is generally pretty naïve.
CLAIREE BELCHER (60-70) is the widow of the town’s former mayor.
SHELBY EATENTON-LATCHERIE (20’S) is a very pretty bride.
M’LYNN EATENTON is Shelby’s mother and a socially prominent career woman.
OUISER BOUDREAUX (MID 60’S-70’S) is a wealthy curmudgeon.

Scripts are available for check out at the Walker Building during business hours of Tuesday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm. If you would like to audition but can’t make it to one of the open auditions, please call Charles Stilwill at (319) 235-0367 to arrange a time to audition.
