Megan Gogerty love you very much...

Riverside - Iowa City playwright Megan Gogerty was recently awarded a New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) "Best of the Fest" Award for Outstanding Book for her musical Love Jerry.

Gogerty will be bringing her writing and acting talents to a local stage this month as Riverside Theatre presents the premiere of her new play, Megan Gogerty Loves You Very Much. This one-woman show will run November 21 – 30.

Megan Gogerty Loves You Very Much offers audiences an evening of timely political commentary that follows our nation’s progress from the 2004 elections through this November. Our nation’s journey from the doldrums of despair to cautious optimism is mirrored in Gogerty’s personal journey from Los Angeles to Iowa.

Gogerty was last seen on the Riverside Theatre stage during Walking the Wire 2008, where she described an encounter with Hillary Clinton that left audiences whooping with laughter. Her first full-length solo show in 10 years promises to be no different, especially considering how the playwright describes her new play.

“This is the story of how Hillary Clinton got me pregnant,” said Gogerty.

Megan Gogerty Loves You Very Much is directed by Ron Clark and features music by Christopher J. Clark and lighting design by Doug Anderson.

Tickets are $20 with discounts available for seniors and youth. Tickets are available by phone at (319) 338-7672, online or in person at the Riverside Theatre box office, located at 213 N. Gilbert St., Iowa City, IA.

Check back here early next week for a review of the show.
