New "Tales from the Writers' Room" Season

Cedar Rapids - The 7th season of SPT's "Tales from the Writers' Room" begins September 12 with Lucky 7.

September 12 &13:
Lucky 7
"Come and Get It!"
What is luck? What is seven, for that matter? Why does the phrase "meet-cute" have to exist in a world with death, starvation, and taxes? Who knows? The Writers' Room, that's who. Whom?

October 31 & November 1:
7 Deadly Sins
"Repent, Re-sin, Repeat"
Sins don't kill. The people using the sins kill. Well, I suppose Gluttony can pop your stomach, so maybe ... well, come to think of it, Sins are ultimately pretty dangerous. Like bacon.

February 20 & 21:
7 Year Itch
"Not the Greatest Romantic Metaphor"
Who in their right mind would use the word "itch" in a romantic metaphor? "I've been dating this person so long they've given me a rash." Nice.

April 3 & 4:
7th Inning Stretch
"Life Ain't Just Peanuts and Crackerjacks"
Life is like baseball. There is a lot of standing around hoping that someone else does something interesting. And when something exciting happens that can put you into the losing column, you hope someone else catches it so you don't have to run too far. Or perhaps that's just me.

May 22 & 23:
Magnificent 7
"All for Just the Price of Admission!"
Magnificent comes from the Latin magnificus, meaning "great, elevated, noble, distinguished." Someone actually decided to use this word for a Writers's Room show. Awkward!

Come down to CSPS when the doors open at 7:00 p.m. and grab some wine or beer provided by Brewhemia. Mingle, check out the recent exhibit and meet some new friends. Show starts at 8:00 p.m.
